The Canary Database

The purpose of the Canary Database is to make the scientific literature on animals as sentinels of human environmental health hazards more accessible to human and animal health professionals.

The purpose of adding curated information to each study in the database is to assist in the efficient searching for relevant articles, and to place individual studies in a larger context, in order to facilitate evidence based reviews. The articles included in the database have already been published in peer reviewed journals that are indexed in well-known and widely available scientific literature databases. We have made efforts to make the curated information as objective and fact-based as possible. Inclusion of a study in the Canary Database does not imply endorsement of the scientific methods used or of the results reported. Curator assignments of specific exposures and outcomes in a particular study do not necessarily mean that any associations between the two have been established.
